American lady

Jennifer Holley, 40, born and raised in Columbia opened her gateway to various cultures as Rastorfer opened her gateway to the United States.

Her dream job was related with animal care, such as a vet, but she couldn't live with the pain of seeing sick animals dying. And unfortunately, she was allergic to animal hair. She had to gave up her dream.

Being curious of the outside world and wishing to meet more people, she quit her job of cleaning houses for people, and learned to do hairstyle. She met Rastorfer when selling hair supply products as a part-time job and gradually built up their relationship over the years. Ten years later, Holley started to work in Rastorfer’s salon.

It was not easy at first. Due to a large number of Asian customers and the big difference of head shape and fashion between Asians and Americans, she could hardly win her credibility and her customer cycle.       The first three months were full of struggle. The Americans kind of stick to the militarian style, but the Mexicans and Asians are more fashionable, which needs more skills and practice. There were also communication issues. Holley beat herself up and took work with her back to home. In six month, she sucessfully worked with the burden and overcame the difficulties. She also got a lot of help from Rastorfer during the struggle period.

Now she quite enjoys working in this kind of international atmosphere. Talking to different customers let she see the world she couldn’t experience. Sometimes, customers may bring their homemade food to share with her. Being a vagetarian, Korean food is her favorite. It is like a big family. Customers name her for a haircut or nail beauty, and she tries to remember every cutomer's name. She never thought of being a hairstylist but ended up very well. She said if you could not decide where you want to go in life, just pick up something you get interested. Holley met the chance and charished it.

Holley's life is not only about hair styling. Her hobbies are related with anthing on wheels. She talked Rastorfer into hula hoop between hair cuts to relax. She also leads a environmental life, remaking clothing and jewlery from old-fashioned meterials.
